Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and the families affected by the tragedy of the bridge collapse in Minneapolis, Minn.

This truly unfortunately accident underscores the importance of repairing and maintaining the nation’s bridges, like the soon-to-be opened Market Street Bridge in Chattanooga.
 
The tragedy should also reinforce the importance and commitment for maintaining the infrastructure of our country’s bridges.  Maintenance of these structures shouldn’t be viewed as a cost; it should be viewed as an investment.
